Come try for free: fun easy-to-use skin skis, skate gear, no-wax skis … and snowshoes too! Equipment from Rossignol, Fischer, Salomon, Swix, One-way and Atlas. Look for the Skookum tent!
Urgent: School Ski Hosts Needed!
We are still looking for volunteer school ski hosts to guide groups of about 10 students around the trails of Larch Hills on the following dates:
North Canoe: Fridays Jan 11th and 25th (10-11:30) – 1 host each date
South Broadview: Thursdays Jan 17th – 3 hosts, and Jan 24th – 4 hosts (10-11:30)
Grindrod: FridayJan 25th (10:15-11:45) – 2 hosts
Hillcrest: Thursdays Jan 17th, 24th, and 31st (10:30-11:30) – 2 hosts each date
Parkview: Wednesdays Jan 23rd – 2 hosts, and Jan 30th – 3 hosts (10:30-12)
Ranchero: Thursday Jan 25th (10-11:30) – 1 host
Silver Creek: Mondays Jan 14th, 21st and 28th (10-11) – 1 host each date
Armstrong: Tuesdays Jan 8th, and 15th (9:45-11 and 11:15-12:30) – 2 hosts each date
Salmon Arm West: Wednesdays Jan 16th and 23rd (10:30-11:30) – 2 hosts each date
School ski hosts will be accompanied by at least one more adult volunteer provided by the schools, and no teaching is necessary! Hosts simply show the students the way around Larch Hills, usually around the Pirate Loppet route in preparation for this event.
If you enjoy skiing and children, and want to pass on your passion for the outdoors to a new generation, this job is for you!!

Survive Outside: 2 Presentations
On Saturday January 12, 2019 choose either one of two “Survive Outside†presentations: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM or, 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. by the LHNS Safety Hosts in conjunction with Shuswap Search and Rescue at the Larch Hills the Chalet.
LHNS Safety Hosts will provide an outline of their volunteer services, explain how you can be prepared to help an injured skier or snowshoer and demonstrate how to use a Rescue Toboggan, SKED and on-hill emergency response supplies.
