Reino Keski-Salmi Loppet

Registration remains OPEN until MIDNIGHT on THURSDAY, JANUARY 23 

Skiing in the 36th Annual Reino Keski-Salmi Loppet on  Saturday, January 25…what an ideal way to kick off 2020! 
With all of our recent snow, the conditions at the Larch Hills will be perfect for a magical day on the trails. Come out to enjoy the day and the camaraderie of some of our over 1000 club members or renew friendships with annual visitors. This full day, multi-age event is for both recreational and competitive skiers.

Final Call for Loppet Volunteers!

We are seeking a few more volunteers for the Reino Keski-Salmi Loppet coming up on Saturday. We need a couple of people to help sell raffle tickets during registration at the community centre on Friday (4-7 pm) and again on Saturday evening at the wine and cheese. We’re also looking for a couple of people to be controllers out on the course Saturday morning.

COME LEARN TO BUILD AN IGLOO
 

Peter Mair is Larch Hills’ resident igloo builder. You might have seen his structures on Frodo’s or Bilbo’s Bog in the last few years.
If you’d like to join Peter in the building of an igloo on an upcoming weekend, email Hermann Bruns at hbruns@live.ca

You’ll need warm clothes (preferably with a moisture resistant outer layer), a shovel, and a 20″ aggressive-tooth handsaw (optional). It will take about 2-3 hours from start to finish.
 

HAYWOOD WESTERN CANADA CUP RESULTS
 

Congratulations to the 24 Larch Hills Junior Ski Team members who raced in the Western Canada Cup last weekend in Whistler. There were some great results!

INTRODUCING HOT BEVERAGE MACHINE
 

There is now a Hot Beverage Machine for your convenience situated on the counter by the small sink.   Each item will cost $1. It is a coin operated machine and no bills are accepted.
 
You have a choice of Hot Chocolate; Hot Milk Chocolate; Coffee (Medium roast) or Espresso Style (Dark roast); Cappuccino; Café Latte; Café Mocha or Mochaccino.  Hot water is also available.
 
The cup size is 8 ounces so you can use your own travel cup or select one from the bin beside the machine.  There is a limited number of mugs available for this use as we share our dishes with all user groups.  We ask that if you use a cup from the bin that you wash it and return it to the bin for the next person to use.

The positions coming up for election for 2020 are:  President, Secretary and Three (3) Directors at Large.
Elections will take place at our Annual General Meeting being held on March 10, 2020
 
The nominating committee will be announced soon.  Please consider putting your name forward to them.  Many hands make light work and we appreciate you sharing your many hidden talents while assisting in running the club.
