Membership for 2019-2020 Season
Memberships for the 2019-2020 ski season are now available online on Zone4. The early deadline for memberships is December 8th. After this date membership fees increase. Currently, we’re 3rd in BC for Cross Country BC’s membership drive for most memberships so far this season, but Caledonia out of Prince George is close behind us and working hard to take that spot!
This week Cross Country BC Reports the following;
“Group A: Sovereign Lake has gained yet more ground on Telemark and is now only a ski length behind for 1st place. Biggest gain of the week is Caledonia, starting to catch back up to Larch Hills in 3rd. Will Kimberley get back in the running?”
The first draw prize for the Larch Hills early membership registration is Friday, November 15th! Get your registration done now at the link below to help us gain ground in the CCBC membership contest and to be entered in the early membership draws.
Larch Hills Nordics “Powered by Volunteers” Pot Luck Social – Saturday evening, Nov. 23 at the Larch Hills Chalet
You’re invited to participate in an early season Pot Luck Social at the Larch Hills Chalet on Saturday evening, November 23 at the Larch Hills Chalet! Gather with fellow skiers and snowshoers, newcomers and long timers, from here or from away. Meet new friends and catch up with your long- time friends.
Time: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Larch Hills Chalet. Pot luck Supper at 6 p.m.
Bring: a Salad, a Side Dish or Dessert to share. Baked Ham provided by our LHNS Board of Directors.
Celebrate: our many and varied Club Programs and Events – all “Powered by Volunteers”!
Listen to: short 2-3 minute presentations by fellow Larch Hills Volunteers describing what Volunteer help is needed this coming winter to make it another great ski season.
Ask questions.Get involved.Volunteer as you are able. Meet new skiing friends and catch up with long-time skiing friends.

Welcome Karen Tanchak, Operations Manager
The Larch Hills Nordic Society is pleased to introduce the new Operations Manager, Karen Tanchak! Karen started working for Larch Hills on November 4th. Have a look at the bio below to find out more about her: “I moved into the Enderby/Salmon Arm area in 2004. I have been active in playing women’s soccer as well as being involved in youth soccer as both a coach and referee.
I was raised to enjoy the outdoors, walking, hiking, running, skiing both down hill and cross country, playing team sports and horseback riding. In the past two years I have also enjoyed snow shoeing.
I have a diverse business background:
Simon Fraser University in the Department of Finance and Student Registrar’s Office.
Owning my own bookkeeping business that involved both profit and not for profit clients
In 2015 I became a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, completed training in “Gaitway to the Brain†and founded a therapeutic riding program where I teach participants with diverse abilities.
I enjoy participating in community organizations and sit on various boards including the BC Therapeutic Riding Association, Equisdom Therapeutic Horsemanship Association and the Back Country Horsemen of BC. I look forward to meeting members of the Larch Hills Nordic Society and learning more.”
Warren Miller Movie (hosted by Skookum)
Skookum Cycle & Ski is hosting this year’s Warren Miller “Timeless” movie at the Salmar Classic. The movie is on Friday, November 8th at 8pm. Before the movie at 7pm they are also hosting a silent auction for a 4 day cat ski holiday worth $3,600 at Mustang Powder.
