Thank you to Sarah and Adam Lauze for capturing the spirit of the loppet on video. What an amazing look back at the popularity of the Reino Keski-Salmi Loppet. The contrast of the excitement and energy of the 2020 Loppet compared to the 2021 Virtual Loppet is very interesting.
The similarities are the passion and enthusiasm for the sport. The desire to set a goal and challenge ones self to complete that task. The inception of a virtual loppet was a brilliant alternative to having to cancel the event entirely. The members participated in honoring the history of the Reino Keski-Salmi Loppet with a total of 245 skiers reporting an accumulation of over 4400 km. Many other members may have enjoyed the course(s) without officially entering the draws.
The footage of the virtual loppet demonstrates the beauty and serenity one can find enjoying the Larch Hills Nordic Society trail system. Many happy faces appear and one of them might be yours.
