You are new to skate skiing or you have some experience but need some technique pointers?
Come and join: The LHNS Ladies’ Night is offering 2 special skate technique sessions: Jan 28th and Feb 11th at 7pm.
John’s Ski Shack is offering free rentals for both sessions. Thank you! Please contact them to sign up for rentals at 250 832 3457 – fcfs.
The Ladies will also have a low key social afterwards in the chalet, bring a snack to share if you like. Don’t wanna skate? There will still be a group to classic ski with on those evenings.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Who? Student from grades 3-8. Younger students may participate if accompanied by a parent. Parents are welcome to ski with their kids. Students have a choice between skiing a 5 km course or a 2 km course. Ski Ability: Participants MUST be able to control their speed on the occasional downhill sections with a strong snow plough or wedge. How Much? $5.00. This is collected by the sponsoring school Food: Hot dogs (including veggie dogs) and hot beverages will be served to young skiers and event volunteers. Theme: Loppeteers are encouraged to dress up as pirates. Prizes will be given for the best costumes. Prizes: The official Pirate Loppet flag will be awarded to the school with the largest proportional representation. There will also be many door prizes drawn the day of the event.
Friendly reminder that LHNS members can purchase Askews and Save-On grocery cards from the Larch Hills Ski Team on Saturday mornings upstairs in the Chalet from 11-11:30am. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or etransfer. We can also collect your name and contact information if you’d like to be notified of when the next order to add money to reloadable Askew’s cards will be.
Tips to Improve your Technique? Jan 25 and 26
If you’re looking for some tips to improve your technique on the trails, the Larch Hills Ski Team can help with that!!! The Ski Team has athletes competing at Nationals in Canmore, Alberta from March 17-21, 2025 who are offering 1 hr cross-country ski lessons in the technique of your choice on Jan. 25 at noon and Jan. 26 at 11am.
