Volunteers Needed for the Trail Lighting Project (July – August)
Thank you to all who have provided financial support of the Trail Lighting Project! With your generous donations coupled with the recent BC Gaming grant we now have enough funds raised to complete Phases One and Two this summer and fall. To try and make our funds stretch as far as possible, we are looking for volunteers to help install the PVC conduit in the trench. At this point we are doing a general survey to see who is available, when and for how many hours. Details will be sorted out closer to our start date in July.
Duties would include:
Excavator’s helper – helper on a hand shovel with excavator operator.
Back Filler’s helper – helper with backfilling on hand shovel / rake to smooth out sand for pipe install.
Pipe installer – laying 20’ lengths of 1.5†PVC pipe into trench gluing joints together and connecting to pole bases. Keeping the inside of the pipe clean! 😉
This is moderately physical work. Ideally one would be able to put in an 8 hour day, but half days would also be very helpful. We’d be looking to have 1-2 volunteers at any given time to help support the full time crew. The full time crew will be paid and consist of two machine and equipment operators, and two full time laborer’s. Most of the work will be during the week which is a challenge, but it may also be possible to organize some evening shifts as well as weekend work depending on the feedback we receive.
Please indicate whether you can help. What tasks do you feel you can assist with and how much time you are willing to donate? ie. one 8 hour day per week for 4 weeks, or…? Which days in July and August you would be available to help?
Depending on trenching progress this will be ongoing for one to two months (July and August).
