Calling on all potential School Ski Hosts – Old and New!
Once again, during the month of January, we’re hosting local elementary and middle school kids at Larch Hills to give them the opportunity to experience cross-country skiing, snow, and the great outdoors! School classes come up to ski two or three times before the annual and very exciting Pirate Loppet on February 1st.
Hundreds of kids will need hosts to lead their groups for this program, and I’m calling on anybody who might want to help out!
Volunteer hosts lead groups of about 10 kids around the trails of Larch Hills for about 1 to 1.5 hours at at time. They are not responsible for teaching or coaching the children, and will be assisted by a parent helper provided by the schools. Your commitment could be for one session only, or for several over the course of the month – with the same school or with different ones, depending on your schedule and preference.
Please contact Karin Huster at karin@huster.ca for more info on the role of a School Ski Program Host, or to see a schedule of schools that have signed up and are in need of hosts. No previous experience is necessary and you do not need to be an expert skier – this is about fun! Info sessions can be organized on snow for new hosts.
