Lantern Ski 2014

Larch Hills Nordics Volunteers will host our 20th annual Larch Hills Lantern Ski on Tuesday evening, December 30, 2014. Lanterns will be lit from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

At the registration table information can be obtained regarding the route and safety and a non LHNS member sign-in waiver will be available. There will be the usual 1-way 5km circuit via Bilbo’s Bog and Frodo’s Bog and a 1-way 1km circuit via Short Cut and lower Ermine Frolic for those who prefer a shorter distance or who will snowshoe. Both routes will start and end at the Chalet. Watch for Alois’ candle –lit Christmas Tree! At the South Hub campfire, hosts will direct skiers either to the north on Larch Hills Road on the 1-way, 1.7K Frodo’s Bog loop or to the south along Larch Hills Road back to the Chalet.

At the Chalet hot apple cider and hot chocolate will be served. Sample baked goods donated by skiers. Organizers ask that skiers consider bringing some snacks or baked goods to share and make a donation of non-perishable food to the Food Bank. Cash donation boxes will be located at the Chalet and the Registration table. Proceeds will be shared between Second Harvest Food Bank and LHNS.
