Larch Hills eNews – Sit Ski Thankyou CORRECTION!

THANK YOU!
New Sit Skis for our Para Program.

Through true community effort, Kaden Baum and Lily Brook have new sit skis to zoom around the Larch Hills trails.  Initiated by Lily’s sit ski being too high for her, a project began to acquire a new lower sit ski to allow her to reach the ground for better steering and braking.  An offshoot of this project was to move Kaden from a recreational sled to a competitive sled which involved re-working Lily’s old sled.

The community effort was led by the Baum family securing funds from the Spina Bifida Association.  Wayne McCreight and Dan Jones from QC Universal Coatings and Alumex provided a partial donation of the fabrication and powder coating of the new sled.  Kyle Flatman provided the engineer drawings and assembly of the two units.  Keith Brook through Northern Plastics provided a back rest and BC Wheelchair Basketball provided strapping for Kaden’s new seating.  Coach Donna Flatman and skiers Kaden and Lily and their families wish to send out their sincere thanks to all involved.

As Kaden and Lily make their way around the trails, please be aware that they have limited ability to move in and out of the set tracks as well as slowing the units down while going downhills.  If you see them in the tracks or coming down hills, it would be greatly appreciated if skiers could make room for them by stepping out of the tracks or off to the side of a hill.

Thanks and Happy Skiing!

Sincere apologies for the previous omissions.
