Our race team member Madeleine was accepted into the Canadian Junior Women’s Team and has now the chance to represent Canada at the 2026 FIS Nordic Junior and U23 World Ski Championships in Lillehammer,

Norway, from March 3rd to 8th.

Tolko Logging Plans at Larch Hills

A significant amount of logging is being planned in the Larch Hills Ski Area. Tolko Industries has been planning in consultation with the Larch Hills Nordic Society since last spring. Several club members have met with Tolko representatives both at Larch Hills and at one of Tolko’s other operations.

At the LHNS General Meeting on Tuesday, February 10^th there will be a presentation regarding the logging plans. Any LHNS members interested in finding out more information are welcome to attend the meeting at 7pm at the chalet.

Attached is a map of the LHNS ski trails with the planned blocks. Some retention is being left in the harvest areas. For the Southern blocks it will be 45% and Northern blocks will be 25%.

We’re fundraising for training our Safety Hosts

Nordiq Annual Club Fundraiser

The Larch Hills Nordic Society has once again decided to participate in the CCBC/Nordiq Canada Fundraising drive. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 to help the LHNS pay for Wilderness First Aid training for our dedicated Safety Hosts.

As many of you are aware, we have a volunteer roster of Safety Hosts that make themselves available to provide First Aid assistance to injured trail users. The LHNS is very grateful to have these dedicated volunteers and are committed to providing them with training, so they are prepared to respond to emergencies.

With the rising operating costs every season, LHNS is looking for some financial support to offset the expense of the Wilderness First Aid training. If you are willing and able to support this fundraiser you will receive a tax receipt from Nordiq Canada. With this fundraiser we may also be eligible to receive some extra incentive funds depending on our fundraising success.
