READ THE OVERVIEW OF KADEN’S EXPERIENCE: submitted by Donna Flatman
Larch Hills Para Sit Skier wins triple Bronze at Nordiq Canada Ski Nationals in Canmore Kaden Baum secured 3 Bronze Medals in the 5 km, 800 metre sprint and 7.5 km races. Para races incorporate a percentage off the athletes final completion time to accommodate various disabilities. As Kaden gets 100% of his time, his races involved chasing down the seasoned competitors in his category that qualified for percentages off. Kaden had his best races of the season. Kaden had the privilege to meet/receive coaching support from three iconic former olympic athletes. Brian McKeever, Para Nordic skier that won 20 Olympic medals and currently the Nordiq Canada Para Head Coach supported Kaden with guidance and technique improvement. Kaden also had the pleasure to meet Beckie Scott, Olympic champion and current Nordiq Canada CEO. Beckie is the first North American female athlete to win an Olympic medal. Finally, legendary skier Sharon Firth presented Kaden with his final medal. Sharon and sister Shirley from the NWT were on the National Ski Team for 17 years and competed in 4 Olympics. Very inspirational moments! Kaden and Coach Donna would like to extend a big thank you to all of the Larch Hills members that have supported and encouraged him along his journey
