The “Thursday Geezers” are a group of mostly retired, but active, men and women (most members of the LHNS) who meet Thursday mornings, at 10:00 AM at the Larch Hills Nordic’s Chalet to explore the Larch Hills Trail System.
About 1/2 of the skiing is on ungroomed trails, going farther as the season progresses. Primarily we XC ski, but we also snow shoe as well.
Poles with off-track baskets are essential. “Skinny” (track skis) will work except in deep powder snow or when taking a turn breaking trail.
Tours vary from 1 to 5 hours. Snow conditions and group fitness determine the lengths of trips. Our object is health and enjoyment, not Loppet preparation. All new skiers are welcome, as are visitors to the Larch Hills.
The “Thursday Geezers” also meet in the non-ski season to explore the many roads and trails around Salmon Arm on their Mountain Bikes, and occasionally on foot or by canoes.
