Santa Cruise Cancelled

More in this category>> Current Events, Larch Hills eNews | 0

We regret to tell you that the Santa Cruise will not be held this December.  This race is typically held in mid-December each year (before Christmas).

We were able to find volunteers for two of the key roles, but we were not able to fill the position of chief organizer of the race.

We encourage all members to donate to the local food banks in their community in lieu of the donations/auction purchases they would have made at the Santa Cruise.

Our food banks do great work in our communities, especially so at this time of year.

Take Back the Hills

Thanks to all the people who came out in the Pouring Rain today for the Halloween Take Back the Hills. Special thanks to  all the Junior Racers who practiced and then worked. A lot was accomplished including moving a bunch of wood down to dry for next year. The good news is that Brian May reported pictures of fresh ski tracks on Silver Star, so if you go up high enough, you can ski. It was great to see a number of newcomers out, as well as  the usual suspects. There will be more work as we finish off other projects. If you want to help, call the new Coordinators Jim Nadler 778-489-2273 or Ed Bouma 250-832-9804.

Both routes will start and end at the Chalet. Watch for Alois’ candle –lit Christmas Tree! At the South Hub campfire, hosts will direct skiers either to the north on Larch Hills Road on the 1-way, 1.7K Frodo’s Bog loop or to the south along Larch Hills Road back to the Chalet.

At the Chalet hot apple cider and hot chocolate will be served. Sample baked goods donated by skiers.
