Coaching

Thank you to all our volunteer coaches. Without you we wouldn’t have such a great, successful program.

Having said that, we need more coaches!!!

Coaching any sport can be a lot of fun, but coaching cross country skiing is a real joy because you can participate and stay active.

For someone who isn’t already coaching, starting at the bunny rabbit or jackrabbit level can be a great introduction to coaching, as well as a great way to become a better cross country skier.

As a coach, you will have the opportunity to work with other coaches to improve your own ski technique. You will also learn how to teach children how to become better skiers while also teaching fundamental skills that they will have for life, and will be able to apply to any sport as well as many jobs.

To become a coach, a criminal record check must be completed. These can now be done online and are good for five years.

To teach bunnies to level 4, the introduction to community coaching course is required.

To teach levels 1-4, the community coaching course is required.

The coaching courses are available at the following dates:

Introduction to Community Coaching (Classroom only. Required course for coaching bunnies and for levels 1- 4):
               Salmon Arm: Oct 22-23 2016

Community Coaching Course (classroom and on snow. Required for levels 1-4):
Vernon or Revelstoke: Nov 25-27 2016
               Kelowna: Dec. 2-4 2016
               Kamloops: Dec 9-11 2016

Please let us know if you are interested in coaching as we need to make sure there is enough room in the course(s) for you! We also need to know how many groups we can have in the program this year, so letting us know earlier is better.
